Your Edenvale Family Chiropractor

The Greenstone, Edenvale family chiropractors offer a wide range of techniques, where a specific treatment regime will be developed for each individual.

We have a special interest in Canio-Sacral Therapy (CST) for paediatric cases. For sport injuries, we may implement extracorporeal shockwave therapy (ESWT), dry needling, electrotherapy, Kinesio-taping and sports massage into our treatment regime. In addition to manual adjustmentsand mobilizations, we offer neck traction and lumbar flexion-distraction for treatment of disc herniations. We also offer the use of a mechanical device, the Activator, for gentle and specific adjustment of the vertebra, more specifically for those who do not prefer the manual adjustments made by the hand.

We are able to treat a variety of conditions such as:

  • Sport Injuries
  • Neck pain
  • Back pain
  • Sciatica
  • Joint pain
  • Headaches
  • Whiplash
  • Pregnancy-associated pain and discomfort
  • Numbness and tingling down the arms or legs
  • Paediatric associated conditions (Paediatric conditions such as infantile colic; sleepless baby; latching difficulties in infants; irritable baby; neck and back pain in children and scoliosis in the child and young adult)

We like to educate our patients on stretches they could do at home to help them with their pain. Below are some stretches you could do to help with your neck or back pain.

Exercises for lower back pain:

One Knee-to-Chest Stretch

Lie on your back with your knees bent and feet on the floor. Slowing pull one knee towards your chest with your hands until a stretch is felt in the lower back/buttock. Hold this position for 30-40s. Slowly lower that leg and repeat on the other side.

Supine (“on your back”) Twist

Lie on your back and slowly pull one knee into the chest. Keeping the shoulders on the floor, use the opposite hand to pull that knee to the opposite side creating a gentle spinal twist. Hold for 30-40s then slowly release. Repeat on the other side.

Both Knees-to-Chest Stretch

Lie on your back with your knees bent and feet on the floor. Slowing pull both knees towards your chest with your hands until a stretch is felt in the lower back. Hold this position for 30-40s. Don’t be put off if the initial movement is uncomfortable – it usually eases off.

Prayer Stretch

Kneel with both hands on the floor. Slowly sink your hips back towards your feet until a comfortable stretch is felt in the lower back. Hold for 30-40s, then slowly release.

Chin-to-Chest Stretch

Sit up straight with feet on the floor & arms at your sides. Slowly bring your chin down towards your chest (you may use your hand/s on the back of your head to increase the stretch) – only go as far as your discomfort will allow. Hold for 30-40s and slowly release.

45 degree (armpit) Stretch

Turn your head 45 degrees to one side (looking towards your armpit) then slowly bring your chin down towards your chest (you may use your hand on that side to hold the back of your head to increase the stretch) – only go as far as your discomfort will allow. Hold for 30-40s. Repeat on the other side.

Ear-to-Shoulder Stretch

Sit up straight with feet on the floor & arms at your sides. Slowly tilt your head to the side and bring your ear down towards your shoulder (you may use your hand on that side to hold the back of your head to increase the stretch) – only go as far as your discomfort will allow. Hold for 30-40s and slowly release. Repeat on the other side.
